Kennametal Continues Community Leadership; Raises More Than $560,000 for United Way
LATROBE, Pa., January 31, 2008 - Kennametal Inc. (NYSE: KMT) announced today that it has raised more than $560,000 in support of the United Way and its agencies during its 2007 United Way campaign. Of the total raised, $350,000 was pledged by more than 1,380 employees throughout Kennametal’s facilities nationwide. More than $130,000 was raised by Kennametal’s Strategic
Supplier Golf Outing and $80,000 was contributed by the Kennametal Foundation. These contributions will be allocated to the United Way agencies throughout the U.S. where Kennametal employees work and live.
"The Kennametal team is committed to being responsible corporate citizens and giving back to the communities in which we work and live," commented Kennametal Chairman, President and CEO Carlos Cardoso. "We are very excited about the amount of support we were able to provide for the United Way and its agencies this year. In fact, this is our second year of raising more than half a million dollars for this great organization. We will look for ways to continue this support each year not only through this particular campaign, but also through volunteer opportunities and events in our local communities."
During the 2007 Campaign, Kennametal also honored its locations with the highest participation rate and the highest average pledge per employee rate with the Chairman’s Award. Each award was divided into two classes – Class A (less than 100 employees) and Class AA (more than 100 employees). This year’s winners are as follows:

Kennametal Rancho Cucamonga, California 100% participation
Class AA: Kennametal North American Distribution Center 81% participation
Highest Average Pledge Per Employee:
