Philip H. Weihl

Philip H. Weihl is Vice President, Integrated Supply Chain & Logistics, for Kennametal Inc. Mr. Weihl joined Kennametal in 1986 as Manager, Manufacturing Systems. He became Manager of Manufacturing Systems and Services in 1991, Director of Metallurgical Operations in 1995, Director of North American Metalworking Manufacturing in 1997, Director of Global Manufacturing in 2000, Vice President of Global Manufacturing in 2001, and Vice President of KVBS and Lean Enterprise in 2005.

Mr. Weihl leads Kennametal’s focus on thorough, worldwide deployment of both KVBS and the Lean Enterprise. Mr. Weihl has led the introduction of Lean Thinking at Kennametal; in his previous positions at Kennametal, his organizations realized multi-million dollar benefits from the implementation of Lean.

Before joining Kennametal, Mr. Weihl had increasing managerial responsibilities in the manufacturing section of Carboloy Systems Department at General Electric Company, Warren, Michigan. Prior to that, he was in General Electric’s Manufacturing Management Program. Mr. Weihl earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Indiana, and a master’s degree in business administration at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Mr. Weihl is a member of Kennametal’s Executive Management Council; chairperson of Kennametal’s Lean Enterprise Steering Council; a member of the MAPI/Manufacturers’ Alliance Manufacturing Council; Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining; a member of the Board of Trustees for the Kennametal Foundation; a member of the Board of Directors for Saint Vincent College, Latrobe, Pa.; a member of the Council of Advisors for Saint Vincent College’s McKenna School of Business: and a member of the Council of Advisors for the Kennametal Center for Operational Excellence at Saint Vincent College. He also has served as the Chairperson of Kennametal’s Manufacturing Council, a member of the Board of Directors for Kennametal India Limited, and a member of the Applied Mathematics Board of Visitors for Robert Morris College, Pittsburgh, Pa. In addition, he has served as the Chairperson of Kennametal’s United Way Campaign in Westmoreland County, Pa., for two years (2001, 2002) and as Co-Chairperson of Kennametal’s United Way U.S. Campaign in 2004.

Mr. Weihl is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He, his wife, Marianne, and their two daughters reside in Greensburg, Pa.
